Green Filming

Because the film and media industry consumes enormous amounts of energy and resources worldwide, many producers are concerned about producing films in an environmentally and climate-friendly way,

The Film Commission Bayern has set itself the goal of reducing the CO2 footprint by supporting the production industry in the implementation of sustainable film and media productions. Together with Philip Gassmann, expert for GREEN FILM PRODUCTION, the Film Commission has compiled TIPS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS as well as EVENTS AND DATES on the subject of Green Filming on this website.

Green Film Consultant Film & TV
Nowadays, film productions need experts on the subject of green filming. This is a prerequisite for self-commitment declarations by broadcasters and associations, which will soon be published in new or updated form, as well as the changed social awareness of climate change. For these reasons, Green Consultants are in great demand in the film and television sector.

Starting in autumn 2020, filmmakers will receive further training at the IHK Akademie München und Oberbayern to become Green Consultants Film & TV. The FilmFernsehFonds Bayern has supported the development of the curriculum as part of its location funding, the Film Commission has actively accompanied the process.

Tipps and Tools
Green filming does not necessarily lead to higher costs. A lot has happened in the meantime and technology has long since become available which makes it possible to work in a way that conserves resources and saves costs. Additional costs arising from environmentally-friendly productions are recognized widely and in full by all film funding institutions and can be included in the calculation of the production costs.

Would you like to make your own productions more environmentally friendly? On our website, you will find practical tips and tools and lots of inspiration on how to achieve these goals:

  • Fewer CO2 emissions and greenhouse gases – the main causes of global warming and therefore an absolute priority.
  • Less soot, less particulate matter and less nitrogen oxides – in Germany the most significant causes of air pollution.
  • Avoidance of environmentally harmful substances and toxins.
  • Reduction of resource consumption.
  • Less plastic and waste.
