Creative Europe is the European Commission’s framework funding programme for support to the audiovisual and culture sectors with a budget of 2.44 billion euros for the years 2021-27.
MEDIA is a sub-programme of Creative Europe providing funding support to the audiovisual and media sectors in Europe with an aim to strengthen the industry and increase its international competitiveness. Since 2021 the programme is structured into three clusters: “Content” with funding for films, series and video games, “Business” with opportunities for distributors, training programmes as well as industry markets and business tools, and “Audience” offering support to promotional campaigns for European films, audience development activities and film festivals.
In 2021 Creative Europe MEDIA offers financial support in the following areas:
Fostering european MEDIA talents and skills (formerly Training)
Innovative tools and business models
European vod networks And operators
FILMS On the move (formerly selective distribution)
Audience development and film education
The cross-sectoral area of Creative Europe targets innovative projects which are relevant for the audiovisual industry as well as for other cultural and creative sectors. It also provides support to the European news media sector. The following funding schemes have been introduced for 2021:

The Creative Europe Desk Munich is an information office of the MEDIA sub-programme of Creative Europe and a point of contact for the film and games industry in Southern Germany. We inform and advise about the MEDIA funding schemes in regular information sessions and one-to-one meetings.
The Creative Europe Desk Munich is a 100% subsidiary of the FilmFernsehfonds Bayern (Bavarian Film and Television Fund) and is being financed by the European Commission and the Free State of Bavaria.
