Filming in Munich

Around half of all filming in Bavaria takes place in Munich. In order to create the best possible conditions for this, we are in constant exchange with all relevant contact persons on the part of the permitting authorities and institutions of the city. Here you will find the general offices and events for the Munich city area:

 

In the case of film and photo shoots involving little effort on public ground (not public green spaces), no filming permit is required if all the following requirements are fully met:

Filming must be approved by the city administration if the requirements exceed the above-mentioned dimensions or the filming takes place on public green spaces. Applications for these areas must be submitted to the Film Service Office of the City of Munich:

 

filming on public ground (DE)

The English Garden, the surroundings of the Friedensengel, Nyphenburg Castle and other areas are the responsibility of the Bavarian Palaces Administration. You can find the basics and application form here:

You can apply for photo and filming permits for the Olympic Park and its facilities by contacting the events department of the Olympiapark München GmbH. Drone flights are generally not permitted here.
