New: Special Funding Program for International Co-Productions

At the beginning of 2013, the Bavarian State Government initiated a new support program endowed with an annual budget of three million euros for international co-productions. The special allocation is intended to facilitate the production of large cinematic co-productions with international potential in Bavaria. A considerable part of the production and at least half of the shooting days must take place in Bavaria. In certain cases it may be sufficient that only a virtual shooting (visual effects) takes place in Bavaria. The program is initially limited to two years. Producers are eligible to submit applications for support. The applications may be submitted throughout the year. A five-man awarding body will decide upon the approval of applications. Funds for the special program are provided by the Free State of Bavaria as the majority shareholder of FilmFernsehFonds Bayern. The special program is limited to a two-year period (2013 and 2014). The funds are granted as a conditionally repayable loan. Further information is available in the guidelines for the special program International Co-Productions.
