The FFF Bayern is supporting three productions in the International Cinema Films and Series program with a total of 925,000 euros: two projects whose image design will be digitally co-created in Bavaria, as well as a feature film by Ben Younger with Michelle Rodriguez and Richard Gere about a rescue mission above the clouds, which will be shot entirely in Bavaria.
Left Seat is the name of a cinema project that is being realized as a German-American co-production. The LS Co-Production GmbH i.G. based in Grünwald near Munich, a wholly owned subsidiary of Augenschein Filmproduktion, will realize the feature film in co-production with A/Vantage Pictures LLC and Mandalay Pictures LLC from Los Angeles in collaboration with Bavaria Fiction. The film tells the story of a businesswoman who suddenly finds herself forced to take control of the small charter plane after her pilot passes out during the flight. Alone with nothing but a barking dog and a weak radio connection to a foreign pilot, she has to steer the plane over the Canadian wilderness and an impending storm. As the fuel runs out, a thrilling race against time and nature begins. The film stars Michelle Rodriguez and Richard Gere and was shot entirely in Bavaria. Director Ben Younger, who has his own experience as a pilot and is known for cinema hits such as Prime with Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman, worked on the script by author David M. Crabtree. The entire crew behind the camera, from production design and costume design to post-production, is made up of experienced and established professionals from Bavaria. Distribution for Germany is being handled by Plaion Pictures, based in Planegg near Munich. The FFF Bayern is supporting the project with 500,000 euros.
As the project is at an early stage, there is no press agency in charge yet. If you have any questions, please contact the company Augenschein Filmproduktion.
Two projects in the line producer/digital image design category also received funding: 300,000 euros went to Trixter for a sci-fi franchise and 125,000 euros to Media Services GmbH for an action series that will be shown on an international streaming service.
