The FFF Bayern is supporting Monsanto, an international co-production for Netflix with a star cast. The feature film is being produced in Bavaria and will also be shot here for the most part. The committee of the FFF funding program for international films and series decided on the funding recommendation of 500,000 euros yesterday.
The project Monsanto will be a political and social courtroom drama about the global controversy surrounding the active ingredient glyphosate. Jonathan Bailey and Laura Dern play the leading roles, with John Schwartzman acting as Director of Photography. The film is directed by John Lee Hancock, who also wrote the screenplay with Michael Wisner, Alexandra Duparc and Ned Benson. A large part of the filming takes place in Bavaria, and the FFF Film Commission supported the crew in their search for locations.
The Munich-based company KrautPack Entertainment is producing from the German side, while the American co-production partner is Onda Entertainment, based in Los Angeles. Executive producers for the Netflix film are Philip Schulz-Deyle and Moritz Borman.
