Talent Film
Talent Film funding is a special form of production funding. A total of around 2 million euro is available for talent films in 2025. Students and graduates of Bavarian film and television schools and universities are eligible for funding in the areas of graduation and debut films. Only students and graduates who have completed a full degree course in directing, production or animation are eligible to apply. Student training films are not eligible for funding.
Graduation Films
Graduation films by students and graduates of Bavarian film and television schools can be funded with a total amount of up to 820,000 euro per year, whereby the application amount for short films by students (diploma/master’s degree) should not exceed the maximum funding amount of 65,000 euro. The application amount for short films by students (Bachelor) should not exceed the funding amount of € 32,500. The application amount for feature-length films (Diploma/Master) should not exceed the maximum funding amount of € 165,000. A confirmation from the respective university / Film school must be enclosed with the application.
Debut Films
Debut films by graduates of Bavarian film and television schools / universities who have completed a full degree course in directing, production or animation can be funded with a total amount of up to 850,000 euro per year. At the time of application, the degree may not have been awarded more than five years previously. The degree certificate from the respective Film school / university must be enclosed with the application.
Projects of other talented filmmakers
Talented filmmakers who are not studying or have not studied at a film school / university can receive financial support for their first film project in the “Projects of other talented filmmakers” category. The filmmakers must have completed school or vocational training and have relevant experience of working professionally in the film industry. Filmmakers who are still aiming to study at a film school are not eligible for funding.
Funding is intended for short films, whereby the application amount for short films should not exceed 50,000 euros. The total amount for “Projects of other talented filmmakers” is up to 330,000 euro per year.
Bavaria Effect
At least 100% of the requested funding amount should be spent in Bavaria. The Bavaria effect specified by the producers in the application and the specified shooting days must be provided as a minimum and will become part of the funding contract in the event of a funding recommendation.
Application
The application must be accompanied among others by the screenplay, a budget plan, a financing plan, proof of acquisition of the filming rights and a cast and crew list.
Applications for talent film funding can only be submitted in German via the online application portal for all four FFF application sessions of a year.
A consultation with the responsible funding executive up to 14 days before the end of the submission deadline is a requirement for submitting an application in the area of talent films.

Bavarian Banking Fund
Guarantee model Bavarian Banking Fund
The Bavarian Banking Fund (“Bayerischer BankenFonds”, BBF) provides guarantees for productions by students and graduates of Bavarian film and television academies (in the case of graduation and debut films that are co-productions with Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR)) for the respective broadcaster participation (down payments) of BR. Applications can be submitted with a broadcaster participation of up to a maximum of 300,000 euro. A fee of 2% of the guarantee amount p.a. will be charged over the term of the guarantee (value date of the first installment until the guarantee is returned by BR).
The completed and duly signed guarantee application and order must be submitted in duplicate in paper form.
