Emmerich produces screen adaptation of „The Magic Flute“: FFF provides international coproduction with a funding of 1.6 Mio Euro

The most popular opera in the world will be adapated for the big screen. With The Magic Flute the producers Christopher Zwickler (Flute Film), Fabian Wolfart & Roland Emmerich (Centropolis Entertainment) will bring a contemporary version with latest VFX effects into the cinemas. FFF provides a funding of 1,6 Mio Euro within it´s international coproduction program.

The family entertainment film is set in today´s europe. When 17 year old Tim Walker is sent from London to the Austrian alps, to start his singing scholarship at the legendary Mozart boarding school, he discovers a century old forgotten passageway into the fantastic world of Mozart ́s: The Magic Flute.

The cast will include well-known actors, new talents and opera world stars like Rolando Villazón or Morris Robinson. London based Sophie Holland, who most recently casted Netflix The Witcher will be responsible.

More than half of the shooting, which is planned to begin October 2020, takes place in Bavaria: In Studios as well as on location. Further filming will take place in Morocco and London.

Florian Sigl ist the director of the movie and gives his international movie debut with The Magic Flute. The Munich born filmmaker was a scholar ship student at Richard Strauss conservatory and a student Sergiu Celibidaches. He produced and directed more than a hundred commercials, many of them prize winning. Currently he develops an english speaking show as a writer and director. The movie will be shot based on a screenplay by Andrew Lowery & Jason Young.

Tobis Film will release the movie in the german speaking territories and also became a co-producer.

Producers are Christopher Zwickler, Fabian Wolfart & Roland Emmerich. Co-Producers at Tobis Film are Peter Eiff, Theodor Gringel, Timm Oberwelland & Tobias Alexander Seiffert.
